Catalyze Capital invests in Melt&Marble to scale precision fermentation fats

08 December 2025 - Press release

Catalyze Capital is proud to announce its investment in Melt&Marble AB (Sweden), as part of a €10 million funding round that will accelerate the company’s scale-up and commercialization of sustainable, precision fermentation-based fats for food and personal care applications.

“New functional possibilities in food and personal care”

The round included a €7.3 million Series A equity investment led by Industrifonden, with participation from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund, Beiersdorf, Valio, Chalmers Ventures, and Catalyze Capital. In addition, Melt&Marble received €2.76 million in grant funding, including €2.5 million from the EIC Accelerator.

“Melt&Marble is a prime example of how science-driven innovation can drive systemic change across industries,” said Theodoor Rutgers, Partner at Catalyze Capital.

“Their precision fermentation platform not only addresses an urgent sustainability challenge, but also unlocks new functional possibilities in food and personal care. We are proud to support the team as they enter this exciting phase of scale-up and commercialization.”

Sustainable fats engineered for high performance

Melt&Marble is developing tailor-made, animal-free fats using a proprietary microbial engineering platform. These designer fats are optimized for performance in both food and cosmetics, offering improved mouthfeel and texture in alternative proteins, as well as enhanced skin-feel and bioactivity in skincare formulations.

The company’s first product launch is expected in personal care applications in 2026, marking an important milestone in its transition from R&D to commercialization.

“This investment marks a major milestone for Melt&Marble,” said Anastasia Krivoruchko, CEO of Melt&Marble. “With key scalability milestones already achieved and strategic partners onboard, we’re entering the market with the capabilities and confidence to deliver real impact.”

Strategic validation from across sectors

Melt&Marble’s innovation has attracted strong backing from both financial and strategic investors, including sector leaders like Beiersdorf and Valio, who are actively engaged in developing commercial applications. This cross-industry support highlights the growing demand for sustainable, functional alternatives to conventional fats such as palm oil, coconut oil, and animal-derived ingredients.
